What is a
board-certified
dermatologist?
A board-certified dermatologist is a medical physician who specializes in the hair, skin, nails and mucous membranes. Becoming a board-certified dermatologist requires years of intense speciality training including: 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school, an internship of 1 year, 3 years of dermatology residency, optional fellowship (1 year) and board certification by the American Board of Dermatology.
In total, this training amounts to 16,000+ hours of patient care training to ensure that a board-certified dermatologist can expertly diagnose and treat over 3,000 dermatologic conditions.
