LASER TREATMENT
DEKA CO2
What to Expect
-
Redness and swelling for 2-3 days.
-
Mild stinging or burning sensation.
-
Itching, crusting and peeling over the next week.
-
Full results may take 3- 6 months as collagen production and skin remodeling take time.
Day 1 - Treatment Day
-
Healing ointment will be applied before you leave the office. A mild stinging sensation is normal for the first few hours. Expect redness and swelling today, which may increase over the next 2–3 days.
-
Reapply CeraVe Healing Ointment every 3–4 hours to keep the treated areas moist. Do not allow the skin to dry out, as moisture promotes faster healing.
-
If you face feels warm, you can apply ice packs to help reduce the swelling and relieve the burning sensation.
-
Do not wash your face tonight, but be sure to apply healing ointment before bed.
-
Sleep with your head elevated to reduce swelling, especially around the eyes. If you had an aggressive treatment around your eyes, you may experience swelling that makes it difficult to fully open your eyes the next morning – this is completely normal and it will get better throughout the day.
Days 2 & 3
-
Apply a diluted vinegar solution (1 tablespoon white vinegar to 1 cup of distilled water) on gauze or a clean cloth (damp, not dripping) two to three times a day for 5-10 minutes each time. This helps reduce crusting and prevents potential yeast infections. If you received laser treatment around your mouth, be sure to place the diluted vinegar-soaked gauze directly on that skin just like the other treated areas.
-
Gently cleanse with hypoallergenic soap. Avoid direct water pressure on the face.
-
Reapply healing ointment immediately after washing or vinegar soaks.
Days 4 & 5 (Crusty & Itchy Phase)
-
Itching may begin as redness and swelling subside.
-
Apply moisturizer every 3-4 hours. Continue healing ointment at night.
-
Avoid letting the skin dry out.
Days 6 & 7 (Peeling & Itchy Phase)
-
Peeling and flaking are normal – do not pick or scratch the areas.
-
Use OTC hydrocortisone cream if itching is severe.
-
Continue regular moisturizing and use healing ointment at night.
Important Reminders
-
Avoid sun exposure. Use a physical sunblock (SPF 45+ with zinc or titanium) once skin has healed (i.e. Elta MD UV Clear).
-
No makeup until skin is fully healed (usually 7-10 days).
-
Avoid strenuous exercise, hot tubs, and saunas for one week.
-
Final results may take 3-6 months as collagen continues to rebuild.
